Bollocks (2008)

This is a film of my testicles on a very close zoom to highlight the most minor movement. The imagery is unsettling, hair and skin are presented in high detail so it is clear to any viewer, male or female, that the footage is of the body. However it is not particularly easy to distinguish what part of the body. As a result of this uncertainty it becomes clear to the viewer that they are seeing something not usually seen. Similarly to being presented with something from inside the body, blood or waste for example the viewer experiences feelings of discomfort, disgust and abjection. The sexual connotations are also prevalent.

The notion/experience of abjection is involved in subjectivity itself. When the viewer witnesses the film they automatically define themselves against it, in reaction to it.
